8 Years of Success Recruit

A Year Older, A Year Wiser…..

My business looks a very different model in comparison to the same time last year celebrating our 7th year anniversary and from as little time as  6 months ago,
discussing with the team our future plans excitedly discussing how we would be doubling turnover and growing as a business – together.

Success Recruit
Today on our 8th Birthday,  I sit here with half my team unfortunately having recently made redundancies for the first time in my career and steering a drastic downturn in business responsive to businesses reshaping all over the UK through restructure and or time limiting survival.

So maybe rather than celebrating as I would have done in previous years, it should be more of a reflection and thanks for today still sitting here as a business owner during one of the worst economy struggles during my lifetime.

In the beginning, you believe that getting your business off the ground is the hardest, getting your brand, customers, office and staff,  all within a relatively limited budget and certainly not allowing for the luxuries of marketing.  Wishing and waiting for that phone to ring with good news, allowing you to build your business regardless of those inevitable hurdles can be a lonely place and certainly not for the faint-hearted.  It’s tough, exciting, requiring constant hard work and consistent foresight and would like to share some of those secrets personal to me which I hope will allow me to write the future of Success Recruit for the next 8 years.

Surround yourself with likeminded people.
You need people to understand your struggles, so ensure you have people in your life who understand you and what owning a business is like. Becoming friends with other business owners can really help you on your journey, making friendships along the way whilst doing something you love.

Surround yourself with people more successful and knowledgeable than you.
It can be easy to become complacent in life when you have hit certain targets, so being around people who will encourage and push you further is important.  Covid19 has shocked and taken several people off guard and although no one could have ever prepared for this, it is good to always have options should you need to change direction of your business journey.

Never underestimate the power of meeting anyone!
Not knowing when paths may cross or meeting someone from your past can be integral to your future. I will never forget when I started my business, walking into a networking event and meeting a client I had worked with 5 years before.  It made me realise the power of always maintaining positive relationships, treating people right is core to your career as a business owner.

Always be nice & listen!
Costs nothing and worth a great deal – listening and learning can provide so much opportunity for today and your future.

Take time out.
Understanding why people get addictive to working hard especially when the results are very easy to see but I personally believe there should be a balance.  Time marches on and I would not wish to finish my career one day in the future to not have provided a quality of family life nor being able to switch off at night to sleep.    Life is for living every moment not just when you retire!

If you have a team, look after and really know them!
You have the flexibility as a business owner to write your own rules, treat them as individuals.  People’s life struggles can be different and what one person may value maybe very different for another.

Take action.
If you have an idea and it could change your business then do it, a lot of people talk about things but do not action them!

Never give up.
Take time out to reflect, review and even rest but do not give up when you have come such a long way.

Have patience.
More than ever you need it right now!

We wish all our loyal clients every success for the next year! If we can help any of you, then please just pick up the phone and call us.
